Judith A. Smithson, age 66 of North Tazewell, VA died Tuesday,
June 17, 2014 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center at Bluefield, WV. Born
February 1, 1948 in Tazewell County, VA she was a daughter of the late William
Boyd Bradley and Evelyn Irene Crouse Bradley. She was a member of the VFW Post #
9696 Ladies Auxiliary of Bluefield, VA. She loved to play bingo and loved her
pet bird “Bob Bob”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, George Ray Smithson; one sister, Nola Whitt; and an infant son, William
Arthur “Billy” Rose.
is survived by two sons, Terry Rose and wife, Deidi and George Smithson, Jr. and
fiancée, Michel Jones all of Tazewell, VA; one brother, Daniel Boyd “Bubby”
Bradley and one sister, Patricia Lowe and husband, Jerry all of North Tazewell,

stationed with US Army in Kandahar, Afghanistan, Rachel Rose, and Mary Jones;

special grand nieces, Brooke Lowe and Kynleigh Lowe.

Stallings Abbott, age 89 of Tazewell, VA formerly of Rocky Mount, NC died
Monday, June 16, 2014, peacefully at her home. Born April 8, 1925 in Rocky
Mount, NC, Ida was one of seven children born to George and Annie Maude
Lancaster Stallings. Ida was a member of West Edgecombe Baptist Church in Rocky
Mount, NC until moving to Tazewell, VA where she attended Tazewell Baptist
Church and most recently Bundy's Chapel. She loved attending church and singing
in the choir at West Edgecombe. She had many lifelong friends there and missed
them when she moved to Virginia. Ida soon made many friends at Tazewell Baptist
and Bundy's Chapel and missed being with them when she was no longer able to
attend. She was forever grateful to her deacon Bernard Pauley from Tazewell
Baptist for his love and kindness toward her. She was preceded in death by her
parents and six siblings; her husband, Thomas Stonewall Abbott, Jr.; her son,
George Thomas Abbott and grandson, William Bennett Altizer.

Fuller, 85 of Springville, VA, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at his
home. He was born in Tazewell, VA and was the son of the late Abram and
Elizabeth Hall Fuller. He had retired from Aramark where he worked in the
maintenance. He was a member of the Springville Christian Church. He liked
fishing, hunting and gardening. He enjoyed visits with his “ole” buddy, Bill
to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Browning Fuller, and
a brother, Melvin Fuller.

Burton Kyle Perkins, age 69 Thompson Valley Community in
Tazewell, VA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 with his loving
family by his side. He fought the battle against cancer and won. Born November
19, 1944 at Berwind, WV, he was a son of the late Henry Burton Perkins and
Georgia Mae Smith Perkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by a daughter, Brenda Gail Perkins, two sisters, Wanda Carol Abel and Myrtle Sue
Abel; one brother, David Lee Perkins.

E. “Jack” Billips age, 78 of Hartwell, WV died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at his
home. Born November 21, 1935 at Hartwell, WV he was a son of the late Earl and
Annie Sizemore Billips. Jack was a proud Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars
while serving in the US Marines and the US Army as a Military Police and was a
member of the Barns Beavers VFW Post # 7136 of Tazewell, VA. During his military
career, he was stationed at numerous military bases, throughout the world. After
retirement from the military, he worked in law enforcement and as a local
business owner. Jack excelled in playing baseball in the local coal camp leagues
as well as in Japan while serving in the US Marines. He was also active in local
bowling leagues. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a
brother, Jerry Billips; sister, Reva Lowrance; and father in law, Earl
will be loving remembered by his wife of 33 years, Joyce Young Billips; five
sons, Paul Billips and wife, Dorothy of Canebrake, WV, Douglas Billips and wife,

Eugene Asbury, 67 of Bluefield, VA, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at his
home. Born in Springville, VA, he was the son of the late Melvin Hobert and
Estell Tanner Asbury. He served his country in the Army during the Viet Nam
War. He was a member of the NRA and the VFW. Earlier in his life he was
baptized at the Bluefield VA Church of God. Mr. Asbury loved his horses,
farming and deer hunting.
